City of Broken Dreams, Part 2
The Cast:
John as Mr. Phillips 68 yr old retired Dutch engineer
Kathy as Victoria, Proper English collegette with leftist leanings and Giovanni the Italian Hitman
Nick as Clifton, English test pilot and Dr. O'Sullivan IRA informant
Wyatt as Max Webber, SIS spy in Vienna
The group begins the Guglehogt cafe after escaping fron the Mexican Occult Bookstore and the Viennese police. Max's control Maso pietro comes to him with orders for the group to leave for Rome to a) get out of town and b) investigate some problems with the SIS agents in Rome.
Before they leave though, the group wants to wrap up the Erlichmann case. Mr Phillips gets a summons from Ernst Pretzche (occult advisor to Hitler and owner of the Mexican Occult Bookshop). With Victoria as his ghost, Phillips returns to the scene for the previous day's crime...and nothing seems to show that there had been a shootout. Odd.
Meeting with Pretzche, the strage little man wants a lock of Phillips hair in exchange for a note that was left with him by Erlichmann. After much trying to weasel out of it, Phillips agrees and hands over a lock of hair. Pretzche smiles evilly and hands over a note with a mathematical formula for entropy. The group is able to follow up as the mathmaticial who derived the formula is buried in Vienna.
At the grave of Ludwig Boltzmann, the agents find a area of broken earth at a nearby yew tree. Digging, they find a wrapped package - Erlichmann's notebook! Before they can escape, the last surviving Nachtwolfe thugs show up and another shootout ensues...ended by a well thrown pistol by Mr. Phillips.
With an early morning train, the agents decide to go a bonus round and raid the Sphinx Club (a little B&E) to scoop up any last relics or clues. They get in and make off with a figure "compass" and some of the notes from Fuch's about his Nazi overlords in the Nachtwolfe...still, whatever that is.
Before they can make their escape complete, the Viennese police respond. Victoria, Clifton, and Max slip away, but Phillips has to run through the sewers, Giovanni takes to the rooftops and O'Sullivan tries to follow Phillips, but gets lost.
Phillips and Giovanni get away, but Dr. O'Sullivan is cornered by the police and bites his cyanide capsule. The capsule does its job and O'Sullivan gives his all for his (secret) country.
The five survivors make the train (with Phillips reeking of sewer) with a next stop in Mussilini's Rome!
Next Time: Into the Mouth of Truth!
