Plumbers Needed at Highdark Hall!

Again gaming with the ever surprising Noah Steven's, this time in Dark Dreary Old England (or something like it).

Pumped at trying the Transylvanian Adventure rules - an early alt setting for DCC (think Victorian Hammer films).

The Cast:
Noah - The Judge
Mark - Theo Wells, Neutral Wizard (1st Level)/ Outlaw
Michael - Dubo, African Albino (oft confused with being a vampire), Neutral Thief/Cutpurse
Carver - Blue-eyed buxom blonde brute Huntress from the Appalachie Mountains, Neutral
{This group is BEGGING for a Druid/Neutral Cleric}

The band started at Highdark Hall at some kind of fete.  Afterwards, we were to  meet with the (butler?head zombie?) named Ricketts...who we were all SURE was some kind of undead. Anyway, Lord Highdark had a problem for us...his plumbing was backed up. A little confused, the three agents looked at each other and professed a lack of both plumbing training and the requisite Union card. Rotting Rickets assured the party that it was a more 'un-natural' sort of problem and any loot found in the basement was ours as well as a fee. Only problem was if we died (according to the contract) our souls went to Lord Highdark...hmmm, no wonder they had problems with the Plumbers Union - they already own their journeymen's souls.

With nothing better to do on a Friday night, the band agreed and Ricketts showed us to an elevator/cage. Pilling in the group was dropped, free fall into a dark basement. Landing comfortably on a dais at the end of what appeared to be a 25'x35' lab filled with shelves and jars. The group split looking at the jars (which held unexpectedly creepy critters and body parts). There was water leaking in and weird whispers that no one could understand...then we started spotting rat-things with some human features. Carver smeared one with a crossbow bolt, and Theo cast Speak Languages - in which he now could understand that the rat things were preparing to let loose a poison gas attack - BUT because Theo's manifestation of Speak/Understand Languages was he could only speak in Demon Tongue...which meant that Dubo had to restrain Carver who figgered' Theo'd been possessed.

About this time, the rats poison gas attack started. Dubo figured it out and ducked out of the room, Theo and Carver passed out. The ratmen attacked and made off with Carver's crossbow and dress, and took something off Theo, before Dubo fought his way back in and rescued his partners.

{Transy rules are usually anti-player, EXCEPT for the recovery after each combat - basically 1d4 hit points immediately recovered - pretty cool}

The group wandered a bit until the next room was found - trying to find the source of the water. Well, they did. Something was plugging a crack and guarded by the ratmen. Never mess with a wizard or blonde redneck beserker. Theo cast a delayed spell on Jimminy (his large cricket familiar) to summon a pack of wolves, and then prepped Magic Missile, Dubo crept in shadows hopping for a=some backstab action and Carver...well she jumped into the middle of the rats with thews and battleaxe.

It did not go well for the ratmen.

After Dubo dug around and found the blockage in the sewer was a young boy's body. Carver yanked the body loose and they returned to the surface for well deserved reward. The body was that of Lord Highdark's nephew.
