After the events from the night play, the party split to try and stop the insane cult of the King in Yellow from bringing their elder god to earth.
Ferret used his scrounging abilities to get a truck and Bren machinegun and some dynomite. He, Phillips, Nora, and Legg then headed for the Hindu Temple near the point where the King could enter our world to try to stop the ritual.
David started with going to the British military authorities to get help. He convinced the loca; district commander to send a detachment of his regulars to try to stop the cultists at the mountain. Pleased, David then sought out the "fat woman" from the night before in hospitals around the city. Despite his efforts, he could not find any admission notice of the woman (clearly a senior cultist). Desperate, David headed back to the scene of the crime...the trashed playhouse. Crawling a month the fire and water damaged wreckage, David thought that he heard voices in a back room. He tried to creep closer but knocked over a table with a loud crash. Three men came out and gave chase.
David turned out to be faster than the three men thought and lead a merry chase through the streets and alleys of Jaipur. After a time, the chase attracted the attention of local police who helped David and apprehended the Cult Leader, although his two sons escaped.
At the mountain, the party found the advanced guard of the cult in residence at the Hindu Shrine (having killed the three monks who lived there). In an early evening gun fight, Nora and Signalman Legg were injured, but the six cultists slain.
Ferret and Phillips rigged improvised explosive devices around the standing stones, then went downhill to the shrine and set an ambush. As ten cultists came up the mountain (at dusk) one (the leader's son) spotted Ferret and the trap was sprung early!
Despite the early alert and Ferret getting wounded, a well placed grenade killed both the heavy woman and the leader's son...the rest of the cultists flead downhill...into the rifles of the Indian Regulars (sent by the Colonel/David).
Phillips notices that Legg had disappeared. The old engineer, guessing that the call of the King in Yellow was too much for the young man, raced to the standing stones and found Legg chanting verses of the play The King in Yellow...Phillips did not hesitate and shot the young private in the back, ending his summoning.
Returned to Jaipur and reunited with David, the team is taken to a SIS safehouse and given an encrypted telegraph. A bold German paratrooper raid in the north of England succeeded in stealing the Sun of Atan (and whipping out most of Section M). Now fearing that the Germans have the lead in pieces of the Atlantean device (with the Sun and the item from India) and the currently leaderless Section M - the characters are given the choice - return to England, or head for Persia and the Chalice of Fire. Without hesitation, the party bravely decides to head for Persia...but without the assets they have enjoyed in British India, and with a shakened SIS, chances are the party will again be operating on their own...
