Lamentations of the Flame Princess

So the latest rpg that I have become addicted to is Lamentations of the Flame Princess. It is a retro-clone of the original Basic D&D that I grew up with. Well, at least for the three weeks that it took me to save up for a copy of the AD&D Players Handbook. I tired pretty quickly of the conceit of Basic D&D. I mean, whay couldn't a halfling (read: Hobbit) be a magic user? Or a fighter? Or a cleric? Didn't dwarves, halflings, and elves have gawds? So my desire to advance from BD&D to AD&D lasted about as long as it took to read the comic book length rules.
So why am I now a fanboi of Lamentations of the Flame Princess (or as the kewl kidz say LotFP)? Weeelll...the rules are there for playing an Elf with a class of Elf...buuut...the game itself leads players to play a human. It is a case of the feel of the game being one of human exploration into the "weird" unknown. that even the characters doing the adventuring are themselves freaks for steping out of the light into the darkness. That for the most part, humans live as they did in our own past and that the game itself resembles more of a rules light version of Call of Cthulhu.
OK, there. I made the comparison. 
First, I luve CoC - and I have played it as long and as much as any other game. But it has its faults in the fantasy genre. Which I think that LotFP does better on.

They describe the game far more eloquently that I...I mean how do I beat "Let me be a bit sexist for a moment. Labyrinth Lord/BX is the girl next door, who you’ve known since you were both ten. She’s beautiful and she’s familiar and she’s just terrific fun. The Princess Box is Labyrinth Lord’s red-haired cousin from out of town.  She wears leather, she’s into metal, she’s got a butterfly knife in her jacket and you’re not quite sure what she’s up to."

House of Dust and Ash Part I of the Season Finale: False Redemption Surviving their release of the Dei-Phage (demon lord), activation of the Pax Machiana, the ravaging of Kephistron Altis, melting of the Most Holy Gilded Cathedral of Baraspine, and the discovery that the “Pope” of the Callaxian Church is, in fact, a heretic…well, let’s say our Murder Hobos have a “mixed” reputation…(although Drustos seems to have made out well enough…) It has been a month since and the Acolytes are abruptly ordered off planet.  As the adventure begins the Player Characters are transferred temporarily into the service of a shadowy and notorious figure in the Holy Ordos, Inquisitor Lady Oriantha Rathbone, on the bleak and poisonous industrialized hive world of Solomon. Emirokol Was Framed!

Two sessions, rolled into one report! Session 1: Flying Apes and a Door of Despair Kathy as Tina the Chaotic Thief and Kilcia the Albino Cleric of Mardua and Katilia the Dwarf John as Badger the Wizard and Amar the Dsert Warrior Ben as Renna the Elf and Emma the Cleric The group was on a shoppinmg trip to look for a new market street in Punjar. They needed a break (from the guilt) of releasing a random zombie apocolypse on Punjar every couple of weeks. Anyway, as they got close to the new shopping area, they heard cries of pain and spotted a bearded man in black (Emerikol the Chaotic it turns out) riding down the street on a demon horse randomly killing passers by.  And calling on his winged gorhellas to kill witnesses. The patry generally ended up fighting gorhellas...except for Amar who got a good cut on the wizard before he escaped.
