Th party started in Habbib's Tavern when a Mephit appeared on their table and delivered an ultimatum to Badger: face a wizards duel tomorrow at high noon, face certain death in a contract with the Assassin's Guild, or pay his dues at the Wizards Guild. After much discussion of a way out of it (during which time, Wendy the Waitress delivered a secret note to Amar) Badger borrowed some money off of Tanni and paid the Guild, and got a laminated membership card in return (and an shared office!). Amar went outside (looking for love) and found Emirikol! The wizard had a gift for the desert warrior...a liquid sword of chaos named Ruin. It started what is sure to be a long relationship by draining 6 hit points from Amar (for future use...). Emirikol didn't ask for anything from Amar in return...yet.
Back inside a woman appeared in the fire and asked the party to come to her aid. Her name was Lifthrasir, and if they would meet at her hut in the Stink Pools, a fetid swamp a half days hike out of Punjar, she had a desperate quest for them. She needed their help to complete a magical artifact (her life's work). After, the party could keep the artifact, and any treasure they found along the way.
The next morning after Badger's smoothing things with the Guild, the party started walking for the swamps. With only a slight insect inconvenience, the party found the witches hut and inside found out that Lifthrasir was a spirit holding on to the world in a despirate attempt to fullfill a demonic bargain. She had four dayd to complete her life's work, forging a unique magical artifact (a ring) or be dragged to Hell.
Again she offered the party the ring and any treasure aquired along the way. There were only three more steps that needed completing. She gave the party a bell that would return them to her hut, and teleported them off to the first quest: To rescue a halfling jeweler named Nicodemos from a strange gang called the Sinistar Syndicate. The ghost cast Planar Step on the party and wisked them away to the rough and tumble riverside city of Oolvanvar.
Tammi, we find out has a bad reaction to Planar Step. He belly swells with mystical gases and she erupts in an epic belch (every time).
After the belching was over, the party quickly assessed the "hideout" of the Syndicate. Tammi cased the place, but they all decided the front door was the best. Knocking on it, the small Judas window opened and a rough man asked what they wanted. The party said they wanted Nicodemos and the man reiterated the crazy terms, five different 500+gp percious gems and a sow. No negotiation! Door slam!
The next attempt was more "normal" knock on door, Emma casts word of command to unlock and the man does and the fight is on! The guy (and his two drugged up dogs) were tough, but between some backstabbing and some serious magical sword chopping, the tough opponent went down (magic swords win over no magic mace!)
With the first room secured, Badger was last seen checking out some taperstries, and everyone was figuring which of the two doors they should take...
