The session started with the group at Habbib's Tavern, still licking their wounds from the foray to the tomb of the Dev'shirs. After some healing, the group decided to return to Oskars Pawn Shop to get the information of who sold the necklace to him. Again, the group was too cheap to pay Oskar's price...butKilcia used her ring of Commune with Spirits to summon a former owner of the establishment...Oskar's father. The chance to speak with his long dead da made it worth Oskar's effort to tell that the guy that sold the necklace was Latimer, a hulking brute who clearly had a good bit of orc blood in him. He could be found after dark at the Hungry Froggollith tavern.
The party went back to Habbib's to plan, and were attacked by six thugs. After a moment of concern, the thugs were soundly dispatched...helping the party feel a little better about themselves. But then, Badger inadvertently summoned a Bear Demon, which nearly killed the cat wizard before teleporting back to who-knows-where. But, looting the thugs yielded maybe 100gp of gear.
Heading to "The Frog" the group got to a table and found the place was the happening joint in the Devil's Thumb (a bad part of Punjar). That said, it was a good time. Sometime around nine bells, Latimer arrived.Badger met him at the bar and the two hit it off. Latimer told Badger he was with a group of bandits called The Crimson Hand, they had a lair in an abandoned iron mine outside of town, the entrance was at the east end of the valley floor between two old oak trees. The band was working for a witch who had them exhuming bodies from the City of the Dead. The pay was high and the work easy, the witch is tall thin and wears black robes...he just calls her the Witch. The leader of the gang is Halendron...he's OK. Better than Latimer's old gang The Slayers Guild. They were dicks...
About this time, the rest of the party, handing back saw a red skinned man and two hooded men approaching Latimer from behind. Before they could react, a fight was on. Latimer dealt a good bit of damage himself, and Badger cast spider web on a couple of the attackers. The red skinned man cast flaming hands at Badger and incinerated most of the combatants. Badger responded with Magic Missile and deleted the red man. The second assassin finished off Latimer, but was cut down by the rest of the party. Kilcea lept the bar to save Badger...again. The final assassin ran for it, but Amar dropped him outside of the bar with a thrown scimitar.
The group stumbled back to Habbib' happy that they now had a solid lead on who was robbing graves, and all still mostly well off.
