The team from Italy was redirected in their stolen plane by radio to Egypt. Apparently, N, the team's handler in the SIS (MI6) had heard about Erlichmann's journal and decided that the team needed to get on the ground to find out more about this Black Stone.

Clifton, the pilot needed a long rest in a mental sanitarium after the harrowing flight (and the last twenty miles gliding in to Alexandria). Victoria went on a Nile cruise, "taking the airs", leaving Phillips and Max to brief the local consulate. After their debrief, Siomon, an up and comer in the Consulate and Ontario Johnson proposed heading to the Museum of Antiquities to look for hints of this Black Stone. Johnson may have been sincere, but Siomon seemed more interested in the lovely blonde Museum Assistant, Mandmoiselle Miechelle.  They did find a black stone that had three languages on it, as well as a strange swirl symbol. Returning to the card catalogue (Library Use...yes!), the agents were able to determine that a lot of the DOG (German archeologists pre-WW1) finds had gone missing. Johnson had a lead with a Major Alyoisus Bayden who was known to be interested in Amarna, Akenaten, Nefretitti and the whole Sun Heresey (which seemd the era that the disappearances were related to.

The group visited the Major and werte thoroughly creeped out by his manservant "Sheik Janin". But Janin took a shine to Mr. Phillips (who doesn't?) and told him to come back that night with five blue lotus flowers.

Figuring this was the kind of weird that leads to glowing shields, Phillips and crew (minus Siomon, who had a date with Miechelle) went to seek the lotus in the market. They found the illicit flowers around sundown and began walking towards the Major's house. Beset by three robbers, the blazing guns of the SIS men quickly forced a path back to the Major's abode.

In the Major's courtyard Janin met them and using the well gave the party a vision of the Temple of Hathor by Dendera, on the west side of the Nile. After some bargaining (and Sheik Janin's discarding the cigarette case of the strange Nazi from Vienna (the one Mr. Phillips shot in the face) as wreathed in evil - the Sheik explained that there was an underground crypt in the Temple of Hathor, and that the party would need to travel to the Underworld to get what they sought. If they came back in the morning, Janin would prepare a Red Ale from the Blue Lotus that would aid them in their journey. But for now, they should go, rest and give the old man time to make the potion.
